 The
United Kingdom or Great Britain is composed of four
countries namely England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The UK made innumerable contributions to art, science and
literature throughout history. It was also one of the greatest
imperialists at its time, controlling large amounts of territory
in Asia, Africa, Oceania and America. The country’s climate is
temperate with lots of rain all year round, with moderate
snowing in the winter. There are now 2.5 million foreign workers
of different nationalities in UK. Its economy is run mostly by
its service sector which is dominated by financial services,
making UK the largest financial center in the world. There are
now approximately 65-90,000 Filipinos all over the UK, 40-50,000
of which are in London. The most common jobs are medical staff,
waitering staff and chambermaids (housemaids). Moreover, there
is a UK-based Filipino organization called "The Centre for
Filipinos" (CF), formed to provide services to Filipino
nationals and their families and is dedicated to making UK an
amazing community for our Filipino workers.
